42ND PAPU ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL COMMENCES

The 42^nd Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) Administrative Council convened in Arusha on June 3, 2024, marking the beginning of a series of meetings to enhance and sustain postal services across Africa. Dr. Mzee Suleiman Mndewa, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communication, and Transport in Zanzibar, officially opened the meetings.

Dr. Mndewa welcomed the distinguished delegates in his opening speech, emphasizing unity and collaboration among PAPU member states. The event signifies a critical step towards enhancing African postal services, fostering collaboration, and leveraging technology and innovation for the continent’s betterment.

“I acknowledged the vital role of the Technical Committees in driving progress and addressing the postal sector’s challenges. I am confident in the delegates’ expertise in fostering digitalization and innovation, which is crucial for the postal sector’s growth and alignment with global digital transformation trends, said Dr. Mndewa.

He further underscored the importance of financial inclusion and environmental sustainability for Africa’s development, citing collaboration among governments and postal stakeholders to achieve these goals and contribute to Africa’s long-term growth and prosperity.

He also emphasized investing in training postal sector staff, who are a strategic catalyst for improving service delivery, operational efficiency, and adaptability to technological advancements.
