Workshop on implementation of the regional customs declaration system (CDS) project from 5 to 7 November 2019 in Arusha, Tanzania.
The aim of this workshop will be to kick-start the implementation of the Regional Customs Declaration System project organized by PAPU in collaboration with the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania
The objectives of the project are as follows: Adapt operational processes to the use of electronic customs data; Use the Customs Declaration System (CDS/CDS.POST) efficiently and effectively; lmprove and enhance cooperation and collaboration with National Customs1 Security Authorities; implement and roll out CDS.
At the end of the project participating Designated Operators should be able to: Increase number of DOs with which ITMATT messages are exchanged; Reduce time spent by postal items in customs; Improve customs processing times by 10%.using the ratio EDC (Returned from Customs/Security) over EDB (Presented to Customs/Security/EME (held by Customs/security).
The opening ceremony was chaired by Mr. Younouss Djibrine, Secretary General of PAPU, with the presence of UPU Experts.
