Finance & Administration Committee flags off 2022-2025 cycle
The Finance and Administration Committee (FAC) met for its inaugural session from 8th to 10th March 2022 in hybrid mode, hosted in the picturesque and touristic city of Arusha by the United Republic of Tanzania. Chaired by Tanzania and one of the Union’s four Administrative and Technical Committees, FAC provides advisory services to PAPU’s higher organs on all matters pertaining to financial and human resource management.
In order to create appropriate platforms for experts to drill deeper into matters and bring forward meaningful solutions to intractable long-standing issues, foremost of which are the Union’s persistent financial and staffing woes, two Working Groups were formed, namely on Recovery of Outstanding Mandatory Contributions and on Human Resources.
The Committee’s proceedings were formally opened by the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Tanzania’s Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology, Mr Mohamed Khamis, who urged the Committee members to devise innovative solutions in the areas of budgeting and accounting that will inform efforts by Africa’s postal organizations in planning for new products and services.
The Committee concluded its proceedings on 10th March, starting with a visit to the site of the ongoing PAPU House Project.
