PAPU Celebrates World Post Day
The Pan African Postal Union has joined the entire global postal fraternity in celebrating World Post Day at the PAPU headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
The Pan African Postal Union Secretary General Dr. Sifundo Chief Moyo highlighted the crucial role of the post to the sustenance of global communications and connectivity.
“150 years of existence, the Post remains committed to contributing towards the attainment of the UN SDG goals as well as the African Union Vision 2063 by improving the lives of African citizens through provision of services that create employment and contribute to the economic and social development of countries” said Dr. Moyo.
Presenting to the delegates who attended the celebration, Ms. Jessica Ssengooba the Assistant Secretary General of PAPU emphasized that the post remains relevant despite digital and economic disruptions.
“The Post facilitates commercial exchanges by delivering goods, parcels, e-commerce products and smoothens implementation of government projects such as financial inclusion, electronic certification, e-government services, promotion of the basic public services”, emphasized Ms. Ssengooba.
