PAPU Scribe meets Tanzania’s Minister of Postal Services
The Secretary General of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU), Mr. Sifundo Chief Moyo, was accorded an audience by Tanzania’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Ashatu K. Kijaji in the country’s capital city, Dodoma, on Friday, 8th October 2021. During the audience, Mr. Moyo, who hails from Zimbabwe, introduced himself to his host as the new leader of PAPU’s General Secretariat. He equally seized the opportunity to thank the Government of Tanzania for all the support extended to PAPU since its inception in 1980. He hailed the host country for its transformation efforts. “Tanzania, as headquarters of the Union, must be the leader of Africa’s postal industry,” he concluded.
Taking the floor, Minister Ashatu K. Kijaji offered Tanzania’s congratulations to the new Secretary General on his well-deserved election and wished him every success. She pledged her government’s full support to the General Secretariat.
By way of reminder, Mr. Moyo was elected on 25th June 2021 as PAPU Secretary General during the 10th Ordinary Session of the Union’s Plenipotentiary Conference held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
He was accompanied by Mrs. Sseengooba Jessica, Assistant Secretary General, who hails from Uganda. The two officials are in Dodoma at the invitation of the Tanzanian authorities to take part in festivities marking the celebration of World Post Day.
