PAPU and EACO scribes in one-on-one meeting
The Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) and the East African Communications Organization (EACO) must continue working together as in the past to help transform Africa’s postal industry. This is one of the pledges made between PAPU Secretary General, Mr. Sifundo Chief Moyo, and EACO Executive Secretary, Dr. Ally Simba, during their meeting in Tanzania’s capital city, Dodoma, on the fringes of World Post Day celebrations.
During the productive conversation, the two leaders resolved to continue bolstering each other’s efforts to build a strong, vibrant and prosperous postal sector in Africa. “Consumers of postal products and services are looking up to us for our expertise, our know-how. In short, for our support. We must heed this call,” Mr. Moyo reminded his host.
The East African Communications Organisation (EACO) was established in 2012 as an umbrella organization bringing together national ICT regulators, operators, service providers (in the telecoms, broadcasting and postal sub-sectors), ICT training institutions and other communication stakeholders in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Its overarching goal is to foster and expand cooperation among the six East African countries in developing and delivering postal, telecommunication and broadcasting services in East Africa.
