PAPU SECRETARY GENERAL PAYS A COURTESY CALL TO NM-AIST UNIVERSITY

Dr. Sifundo Chief Moyo, Secretary General of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) has today visited Profesor Maulilio Kipanyula, the Vice Chancellor of the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, to further collaborations between the two Pan African institutions.

Dr. Moyo briefly introduced the Pan African Postal Union mandates, stating that PAPU has 45 Member States represented by Ministries, Designated Postal Operators, and Regulators. This visit is propelled by our strategic objective of promoting research and development in the Postal Sector and promoting the development of new Postal products and services.

“Taking that into account, we at PAPU consider the postal sector as a powerhouse of modern logistical, digital finance, and e-commerce services, which entails that it is more than just the wide narrative of just than parcels and letters,” asserted Dr. Moyo.

To accelerate the exchange of services and for the postal sector to maintain its relevance to society, collaboration, and partnership with research institutions such as the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology is essential.

“Given your excellence in research, innovation, as well as digital and computer disciplines, we consider NM-AIST the best ally in the realization of the Internet of Postal Things, which we as the Postal Sector have been envisioning by providing African solutions to African challenges, said Dr. Moyo.

Expressing NM-AIST’s readiness to welcome the partnership, Prof. Kipanyula assured Dr. Moyo that the institute is experienced and resourceful in all three critical areas requested: research, innovation, and skills development.

“We have gladly received the idea with enough zeal to implement and see the tangible results out of this, and going forward, our technical experts have to come up with a draft memorandum for formalizing this partnership, said Prof. Kipanyula.

On another note, Dr. Moyo expressed his profound appreciation for the NM-AIST management to apportion their time to attend the official inauguration ceremony of the iconic PAPU Tower, which hosts the Headquarters of the Pan African Post Union.
